One thing you should know about me: I always judge a song from the meaning. And this time I want to talk about a song with a very impressive meaning. You know, this song is really a great song if you look to the lyrics. Guess, what song is it? Yes, It's Katy Perry's Firework. Well, I'm not talking about the singer. I'm talking about the song.
I think the world really needs many great songs like this, not like many songs that just show your sadness about losing someone you love, losing hope, or facing difficulties of life. Those songs are just songs that make your problems look worse. That's miserable. The more you listen to those songs, the more you think about your problem, the more you feel sad and frustrated.
But this song is different. It is like motivating you to keep your light shine, no matter who you are, no matter what circumstance you have in your life, even when your light is so little.
Watch the video above. I really like the way this video was set up. To illustrate the song, they use some people as models that most people may think they don't deserve to be happy because of what they face in their lives.
On this video, you can see a broken-home family, a little girl with cancer who will not have long time to live, a fat girl who doesn't has great body, or just a couple of gays.
I believe most of you think that these kinds of people are just people who deserve your pity. You think it's very logical for them to feel sad or stressed, because you know they have those reasons to feel 'different'. Maybe some first sentences of the song lyrics really represents about what they feel:
"Do you ever feel like a plastic bag, drifting throught the wind, wanting to start again? Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin like a house of cards, one blow from caving in? Do you ever feel already buried deep, six feet under scream but no one seems to hear a thing?"
But you know what the next lyrics is? "Do you know that there's still a chance for you? 'Cause there's a spark in you. You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine."
Yes, I love this part. It's what this song is all about. You must fight all your problems. Just because you have problems you don't want to have in this life, doesn't mean you don't have any hope or chance to live your life. You think your life is not as good as others. Maybe it is. I don't know about your life story.
But believe me, no matter who you are or what problems you must face in your life, your life is worth living, not just surviving.
Let's check the best part of this song: "You're a firework. Come on, show them what you're worth. Make them go "Oh, oh, oh!" as you shoot across the sky."
I don't know how miserable your life is, and I don't what you're going through, but I believe that everyone who is still breathing in this world deserves more than just surviving this life. It's pointless for you to be in this world if all you do is just waiting your sad story ends, then everybody will say "Oh, the story is so sad. You have my pity." You want people to see your story like that? Of course not. Create a great story in your life before the story ends. Maybe you can't change the circumstances of your story, but you can always change the content of story until nobody thinks it's a sad story.
Because you're a firework, friends. All you have to do is to know that you're that firework that still has that spark.
